Since forming in 1995, the Polished Brass quintet has
played for college and university commencement services, numerous
wedding
ceremonies, benefit concerts, indoor and outdoor parties, religious
services,
memorials, convocations, and conventions. The repertoire has grown to
include many
arrangements from all musical styles and periods, including the
renaissance,
romantic, bigband, dixieland, and modern broadway musicals and movie
themes. Each
person is an experienced musician with numerous performances to their
credit.
Whether you need music for a party or a ceremony, you can be confident
that you
made a sound choice with the Polished Brass.
We specialize in choosing selections to please each
audience. Whether performing with vocalists, organ, or piano, audiences
enjoy our
careful attention to blend and balance that brings energy and
excitement to
beautiful music. We sometimes add percussion or vocalists.

| Mike Blevins - Tuba - . Mike was a
student of Sam Green at the UC College-Conservatory
of Music, graduating with a degree in music education. His
playing ensembles include the Lebanon Symphony Orchestra, the
Cincinnati Metropolitan Orchestra, and the Mt.Auburn
Brass
Fellowship. Mike also serves as Bandmaster for the
Syrian Temple Concert Band.

Robert Coil Ph.D.- Trombone
-
Bob is a graduate of UC College-Conservatory
of Music with a major in education and bass trombone performance.
He
also earned an M.B.A at UC and a Ph.D. from The Union Institute , majoring in
adult
education. He plays in the Cincinnati
Metropolitan
Orchestra , the Mt.Auburn
Brass
Fellowship , the Howard
Bloemker Combo,
and
plays for musical theater as well as with other local ensembles. Bob is
a professor at Cincinnati
State Technical
and Community College where he teaches computer courses and was the
founding director of
the college choir, The
Green Tones. Bob
is also a member of the International
Trombone Association, and organizer of Bones of Cincinnatus.

Laurel Hinkle - French horn-
Laurel received a Bachelor of Arts from
University
of Cincinnati McMicken College with a major in music. She was a
member
of the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra for over 35 years, and is
currently
a member of the wind quintet, Autumn Winds. In addition
to the double-valve French
horn,
Laurel also plays the natural horn, as well as alto horn in the Cincinnati Brass Band.

| Richard
Dill
- Trumpet - Richard
earned his Bachelor and Masters Degrees from UC College-Conservatory of
Music with Majors in Trumpet Performance. He
is currently principal trumpet in the Sinclair
College Community Wind
Symphony . While
a student at CCM he also played in the Cincinnati Symphony. He
relocated in Virginia
where he performed with a number of ensembles including the National
Symphony Orchestra. After teaching high school and college bands
in North Carolina and Virgina, Richard retired from
Alexandria public schools where he was Curriculum Specialist for Fine
Arts. |
| Al Schmidt - Trumpet - Al holds a Bachelor
of
Music Education Degree and a Masters of Music from Central Michigan
University. He is a retired band director from the Lakota School
district. Al is also a member of the Cincinnati
Brass Band and the Ohio Valley British Brass Band, and freelances
around the Cincinnati area. Al has written and arranged music for
brass quintet, concert band, brass band and marching band. |
